Spanish at Falcon Ridge Middle School introduces 7th & 8th grade students to the language and culture of the Spanish speaking world.
SPANISH 1-A: ¡Hola! Students will learn basic conversational skills including vocabulary for introductions, asking/answering where people come from, personal likes/dislikes, describing themselves and others, school schedules and classes, free-time activities and food. Communication skills will focus on listening, reading, writing, and speaking. Homework completion, memorization of vocabulary, preparation for quizzes and tests, and active class participation is required. To ensure success in this class, students need to have a strong reading background to register for Spanish 1A. ¡Avancemos!
SPANISH 8: El español continua…this course is recommended for students who are maintaining a C average or above in seventh grade Spanish 1A. The continued focus of Spanish in 8th grade is to prepare students for the high school second year course. After a brief review of seventh grade Spanish concepts, students will work with new vocabulary, grammar, and cultural information about family members, making plans, shopping, clothing, and getting around town. Communication skills will again focus on listening, reading, writing, and speaking. Homework completion, memorization of vocabulary, preparation for quizzes and tests, and active class participation is required. Students who successfully complete this class may be recommended to register for Level 2 Spanish in high school and work toward earning College in the Schools (CIS) credit in high school. ¡Avancemos en español!
