FRMS Chess Team

 

General Information

Who:  Everyone is welcome - whether you have played for years or are simply interested in learning how to play.  The Chess team is open to any 6th, 7th, or 8th grader interested in playing chess.  

 

What:  Chess Team players play chess!  Players should be ready and willing to accept a challenge from any player.  Players are expected to demonstrate good sportsmanship and a willingness to help others become better players.  Unless other arrangements are made with the chess team coach, players should stay for the entire practice.

 

When:  Sign up through MyPaymentsPlus during December and January.  FRMS Chess Team starts up Thursday, January 4th and the team meets every Tuesday and Thursday after school until Thursday, March 21st.    We will meet at 3:15 in the Cafeteria, and our end time is 4:50.  Students can either get picked up by a parent after practice at 4:50 or take the activity bus home.  

 

Where:  Falcon Ridge Middle School Cafeteria

Pizza Party!  A pizza party will be held during the last week of practice.  ½ of a large pizza and pop will cost $6.  Money (cash) for the pizza party should be given to Ms. O prior to the party.

 

Chess Meet Dates:  

January 23rd - Away vs DHMS
February 6th - Home vs VMS
February 20th - Home vs BHMS
March 5th - Home vs SHMS
March 19th - Away vs VMS

 

Transportation is provided to and from our away meets. Meets run 3:30-4:45 pm.
