Chess Team

General Information

Who: Everyone is welcome - whether you have played for years or are simply interested in learning how to play. The Chess Team is open to any 6th, 7th or 8th grader interested in playing chess.

What: During Chess Team, we play chess! Players should be ready and willing to accept a challenge from any player. Players are expected to demonstrate good sportsmanship and a willingness to help others become better players. Unless other arrangements are made with the Chess Team coach, players should stay for the entire practice.

When: Sign-up November-December. The FRMS Chess Team meets every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon beginning early January, from 3:10-4:40 p.m. The Chess Team season will run through the end of March. Students are responsible for arranging transportation home after each practice no later than 5 np.m. Chess Meets (approximately 5) are typically scheduled after school from January - March with the other middle schools in District 196. If the meet is at a different school, transportation will be provided to and from the meet.
