Stress/Anxiety Educational Support Groups Now Being Offered
This Fall, the FRMS Student Support Team will be offering eight-week Stress/Anxiety Educational Support Groups for all interested students.
These groups will run once a week for eight weeks starting on Monday, November 30th. Cohort A students will meet on Tuesdays from 12:15 - 1:00 p.m. via Zoom. Cohort B students will meet on Mondays from 12:15 - 1:00 p.m. via Zoom.
Both of these days are asynchronous learning days, so students will not miss class time. These are voluntary groups, and they are for students who struggle with stress and anxiety and would like to learn some healthy coping skills. Each week we will spend a little time trying different relaxation and distraction techniques.
The following are topics that may be covered during the group:
- Introductions & Anxiety 101
- Strategies for Healthy Living
- Protective Factors
- Powerful Breathing
- Cognitive Distortions & Challenging Anxious Thoughts
- Surviving Panic Attacks
- Looking for Joy
These educational support groups will be limited to ten students. We will offer as many groups as necessary so that all students who want to participate in a group are able to do so. If you feel like this group could be a good opportunity for your student, please discuss this possibility with them to find out their level of interest. We want students in the groups to be willing to share and discuss how stress/anxiety affects their lives. If you and your student feel that this group could be beneficial, please reply to Mr. Rotvold.
